Crossover

December 2, 2010
This is the best short I've seen in ages. It's a mixture of footage from a really beautifully crafted miniature set and 3D animation. The colours are spectacular and the animation is so subtle that at first it's difficult to imagine you're not watching an actual insect. I suspect it tells the story of how Christianity so delightfully consumed native religions in its relentless trek across the globe, but you can make up your own mind. However you choose to imagine the story, I love the hapless little guy who never makes it to the top. He and I share a common spirit, I think. Anyhow, I have zero information about this other than the director and producer is named Fabian Grodde and, though he doesn't have a website, I think he was involved in this short too. The website's in German, but it doesn't make much of a difference. (Also, I suggest you watch Crossover on Vimeo in HD on fullscreen, if you get a chance. It's much more impressive).
